Frequently Asked Questions

This collection of frequently asked questions (FAQ) provides brief answers to many common questions about the DYCALC Webbased Calculators. Please check here for answers before sending any email.

How long does it take to develop a web calculator?

The first version of the web calculator – based on the uploaded excel calculation model – will usually take about 1-2 working days to complete, because we minimize the time to understand and develope the calculation model. Beyond this, the exact time frame can be provided only after analyzing and understanding the further requirements of the customer through our online project planner application.

Do I need to meet you to discuss anything?

There is no need for any face-to-face meeting. All clients will have access to the project planner application were they can track project progress, preview the calculator, upload files, send messages, see invoices and payments record. However, we are also available for in-person, phone or skype meetings.

How much does a web calculator cost?

The cost of the web calculators is extremely competitive due to the minimization of model development time. Τhe first working version of a calculator has very-low, one-time, fixed cost. The final cost will depend on customer specific requirements. You will get an accurate quote at the online project planner application.

How does the payment process work?

For excel-file submission, registration to project planner application and testing the first version of the web calculator you don’t have to pay anything. Are absolutely free!! If the first version meets your requirements you can get this at very-low cost. In case you will need improvements and extra functionality we will be on hand to discuss your queries in order to provide you an accurate quote. Once the quotation has been approved, we will require 50% payment in advance to implement the improved version of the calculator. Once we have completed, the rest 50% is requested and after the final payment calculator will be available for download and/or for direct integration as embedded code.

What do I finally get?

After the completion of our work, we provide a compressed file (.zip) which contains all the calculator source code files. Simultaneously, we provide an embedded code for direct integration of the calculator to your website or blog.

What types of payment do you accept?

All invoices will be sent via PayPal, the world’s best-known, safest online payment system. You can use PayPal to make payments using Debit, Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards. A PayPal account is not required from the clients.

What do I need in order to begin?

What about confidentiality of my files?

We sign an electronic non-disclosure agreement (NDA) where DYCALC establishes that any material, information, and files related to your project will not be shared with third parties or used in any other way that is not related to the completion of the project. You will get this document at the online project planner application. You can see also our Privacy Policy.

Yes, it can! You might include your desired charts on the uploaded excel and request for these at the online project planner application. We currently support the following types of chart: column, line, pie, bar, bubble, scatter.

What kind of interactive elements do you provide?

We provide several user interface elements to make the web calculators interactive, including combo boxes, check boxes, list boxes, radio buttons, tabs, sliders, gauges, and maps which are like parameters or filters. The end-users can see information fit to them by setting corresponding values for these elements. Such elements are usually used for what-if analysis, when users need to change the conditions on the fly to see what will happen in a particular situation. You can request for these elements at the online project planner application.

Does a calculator work on tablet devices?

Our calculators are HTML/JavaScript/CSS (HTML5) applications that have been designed to work on modern web-browsers without any plugins (java, flash, silverlight). According to this, calculators can work on equally well on desktops and touchscreen tablets and mobile devices.

What web browsers are supported?

Our web calculators have been tested on all modern browsers with full HTML5 support (latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer). For the best experience we recommend Google Chrome.

What about the performance of the web calculator?

Our web calculators have usually small size (1-5MB) and use as little memory as possible. You can upload an excel file with thousands of cells and calculations, but keep in mind that the complex the calculations, the slower the performance of the calculator. In order to improve the performance of the calculator – and especially the recalculation operation – you must avoid array functions (e.g. SUMIF, COUNTIF, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH etc.) in large data sets. Also, avoid using a lot of nested if statements (e.g IF(A1=1,15,20,IF(AND(IF(OR…). Upload your file and you will inform about performance issues at the online project planner application.

How to embed a web calculator into a website?

Embedding a web calculator is very easy. It works much like embedding a YouTube video. You just need to copy and paste a line of code into any context where you can use an iframe tag. All websites and most blogs will let you do this.

Can you host my calculator?

Every complete project of web calculator will be hosted by default into free Google Drive server. You can direct integrate the web calculator from this place through the provided embed code. Google Drive has proven to be one of the most reliable free hosting services with unlimited bandwidth. Moreover, to provide full proof security Google drive has utilized HTTPS encryption to keep your web calculator secure.

Can I modify the source code files of the calculator?

Yes, you can modify the delivered source code files of the web calculator. If you are a web developer, you may modify the code to meet the requirements of a project. However, please note that we won’t be able to provide support on any modification.
